It won’t be news to anyone that Thomas Cook has gone under. This spells disaster for many people – investors, flight attendants and perhaps most of all the average joe holiday maker.
43,000 people have been stranded oversees as Thomas Cook have cancelled all of their flights. It might sound perfect to be forced into an extended holiday, but the reality is that this has cost people hundreds of pounds in hotel costs and flight costs and for some means that they are on earning a wage.
If you’re stuck with the Thomas Cook shenanigans, or a similar situation, you have two options.
- Claim against the airline for compensation. Under EU law if your flight is delayed or cancelled then you can claim hundreds of ounces back.
- Call the credit card company that you used to pay for the holiday. In the UK credit card companies offer protection against being mis-sold.
Good luck to you all stuck in this awe full situation, and I hope you get home safe.
