Have you heard of Debt Camel and the Debt Camel blog? Everyone in debt should know about the Debt Camel website and how this free resource can help you through a difficult period.

We’ve been taking a look at Debt Camel to see why they’re so popular. Learn why Debt Camel impressed us and how Debt Camel differs from Money Nerd, right here.

What Is Debt Camel?

Debt Camel is a website committed to helping people in debt or those who have other financial worries. The website was created in 2013 by Sara Williams, and she still owns and runs it today.

The website focuses on providing easy-to-understand information and answers to common debtor questions. The articles and pages provide generic insights and explanations. But the blog does not provide tailored information to specific debt circumstances or offer personal replies.

How Many People Read the Debt Camel Blog?

We don’t know exactly how many people tune into Debt Camel every week, but there are signs that the site has a big following.

For example, if you subscribe to their site you will receive an email when a new article is published, and it is claimed that more than 7,000 people have already signed up to Debt Camel notifications.

Can Debt Camel Get Me a Debt Solution?

Debt Camel has some fantastic posts on the various debt solutions, including Debt Relief Orders, Debt Management Plans and Individual Voluntary Arrangements. But they only provide information on these services and cannot help you get one directly.

Debt Camel will also recommend a string of other groups and services, mostly from UK debt charities or some other type of support group.

Is Debt Camel a Commercial Resource?

Debt Camel is not a commercial blog, meaning it does not include any affiliate links to commercial debt help services or does not include paid-for advertising. Sara runs the website because she is passionate about helping people in debt and changing debt policy.

This is different from a lot of debt blogs which partner with commercial debt solution providers. Neither is right or wrong, but they are different ways of running these types of resources. This is also why the Debt Camel blog does not lead to other sites that can offer you debt solutions.

Can I Donate to the Debt Camel Blog?

Many people find the information on Debt Camel extremely useful, and because it has helped them deal with debts, they want to donate to the blog.

However, Sara does not even accept donations for her free debt blogs. If you do wish to send Debt Camel a donation, Sara asks that you redirect the donation to your local Citizens Advice.

What Are the Benefits of Debt Camel?

The Debt Camel blog is excellent for people in debt with worries and questions. It can provide useful answers during a stressful time, especially on topics relating to:

  • Loan refunds
  • Debt solution services
  • Debt industry terms and processes
  • Budgeting
  • Mortgages and more

Sara has even created a special section dedicated to information about COVID-19 and debt. Thus, the blog is updated regularly and includes reliable information.

Are There Any Disadvantages to Debt Camel?

One of the main disadvantages of Debt Camel is that is a popular ship being captained by one person. There is a limitation to the amount of content that Sara can produce on her own or even if she outsourced some articles.

On the other hand, other debt help resources online may employ larger teams and researchers to create more information. This could mean more specific debtor information about companies, events and current scams.

Money Nerd Vs Debt Camel

The above is one way to differentiate by the work we do here and the information provided by Debt Camel. But before we dive into that, let’s take a look at the similarities between the sites.

Both Money Nerd and Debt Camel are free resources that debtors can use to get quick answers to key information. Many of the topics covered in the guides are the same, such as debt solutions and debt terms. And both websites recognise the need to use simple terms and not use confusing jargon when describing debt processes.

However, Money Nerd has a much bigger team working behind the scene that can research very specific situations and create more niche content.

For example, we review hundreds of individual debt management companies and investigate lots of debt collection agencies and how they operate. This means we have more content and more targeted content when a debtor receives a specific debt letter or legal threat.

After all, we are here reviewing a specific debt blog again…

And a final difference is that Money Nerd does partner with a commercial debt management company. We only partner with reliable and trusted debt management providers with stellar reviews.

Does Money Nerd Recommend Debt Camel?

Absolutely, just because Debt Camel does many things similar to us here at Money Nerd doesn’t mean we don’t love what they are doing. Debt Camel provides accurate and helpful information that lots of debtors will benefit from, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend checking them out.

Other big names have also recommended Debt Camel, including the popular debt charity, National Debtline.

You Should Also Check Out the Debt Camel Twitter Account

Debt Camel is also on Twitter and is worth a follow. If you want to stay up to date with their content without subscribing or visiting their site.

The Twitter page can be very helpful and they’re even known to pull up the likes of Martin Lewis when he gives misinformation.

What’s New at Money Nerd?

Money Nerd is always updating with new content and helpful guides. We’ve recently started tackling more reviews, common debtor questions and discussed lots on debt consolidation.
