Stake should not be presented to readers in Great Britain as a currently licensed casino option. The Gambling Commission announced that Stake.uk.com, operated by TGP Europe, would leave the Great Britain market and shut down by 11 March 2025.

The Commission’s consumer notice said new registrations would stop and redirection links from the main Stake website would be removed. An international website, sports sponsorship or familiar brand name does not establish a current licence for customers in Great Britain.

Check the specific operator and website

Licensing attaches to particular businesses and activities. Before relying on claims that a website is licensed, check the legal entity and domain against the Gambling Commission’s public register. An overseas licence does not replace the permissions needed in Great Britain.

Do not try to bypass location restrictions to use a service that is unavailable where you live. This article does not recommend an alternative route to Stake’s international site.

VIP rewards do not make gambling profitable

Casino loyalty schemes can offer points, bonuses, cashback or “rakeback” linked to gambling activity. The value depends on the actual terms, including qualifying games, calculation methods, exclusions and any withdrawal conditions.

A reward is not a guarantee that losses will be refunded. Increasing your stakes or playing more often to reach a higher tier can cost more than the reward received. A personal host or higher betting limit does not make an account safer or more affordable.

Casino games generally give the operator a mathematical advantage over repeated play. The Commission explains house edge and return to player. Neither figure predicts what you will win or lose in a particular session.

Treat withdrawal and cryptocurrency claims carefully

Do not assume that withdrawals are unlimited, immediate or free because a review says so. Applicable conditions can include account checks, payment-method rules, processing times and fees. Read the terms that apply to the actual account and transaction.

Using cryptocurrency does not remove gambling risk. Its value can change, and conversion or network fees can affect the amount received. A promotional comparison page is not independent confirmation that funds will be available when you need them.

Existing accounts and financial difficulties

If you have an unresolved balance from a closed account, keep your account records and contact the operator through independently verified support details. The Commission’s closure notice directs customers with account questions to the operator. Do not deposit more money to pursue a VIP tier or attempt to recover earlier losses.

If gambling is affecting your finances, the Commission provides information on self-exclusion. MoneyHelper’s debt advice locator can help you find free advice about bills and debts.
